We are a community

We are a community of athletes, volunteers, friends and family. Sarah’s Soldiers is made up of over 45 athletes, 20 volunteers and many, many donors. We have been together for over three years and focused on building the community, promoting healthy lifestyles, raising money to find a cure for diabetes and having as much fun as possible.

Fighting for a Cure

Type 1 Diabetes or Juvenile Diabetes, affects over 3 million children within the United States. A type 1 Diabetic’s body does not produce insulin, an enzyme that gets the critical food and energy to the bodies cells, any more. people with type 1 diabetes must take insulin in order to stay alive.

To ensure the child gets the right amount of insulin, they must check their blood by finger prick at least 10 times a day. To adjust the level of Insulin in their body, many take several shots each day or use an insulin pump that is attached to their body. It is not easy as it effects their lives and the lives of their the family 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Insulin is not a cure for the disease - it is merely life support.

Sarah is

Sarah is our daughter and was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes in October of 2005 at 4 years old. Life changed dramatically for our entire family on that day as we struggled to understand the disease, the dangers and the necessary steps to manage the disease effectively to ensure Sarah stays healthy for the rest of her life.

Sarah can do anything she wants to do, even become an olympic athlete like Gary Hall Jr. or Kris Freeman. She loves to play soccer, ski, ride horses, golf and swim! Not much can slow her down as her inner strength and courage does not let her.
